D'Angelo Bros., Inc.

History

The Company was founded in 1906, shortly after Frank and Joseph D'Angelo arrived in America through Ellis Island from Southern Italy.  They began by doing excavation work, which in those days was done by hand, using a pick and shovel and loaded into horse drawn "drop bottom" wagons.  They worked on many row homes being built in neighborhoods throughout the city of Philadelphia, constructing the stone foundations and the cement work required, which was referred to a "operation" work.  Over the years the company continued doing these projects until the 1950's when the company transitioned from residential construction into commerical building projects, completing excavation, sheeting/shoring and underpinning work for numerous buildings in all areas of the city.

Today, the company is in the third and fourth generation of continuous ownership and management.  In recent years D'Angelo Bros., Inc. has successfully completed challenging excavation/ shoring/underpinning and sitework for many landmark projects such as the Kimmell Center for Performing Arts, Comcast Tower Building, Mellon Bank, The Academy of Music and Citizens Bank Park, to name a few in and around the Philadelphia area.
